Presenting the Masterworks:

Brahms’s German Requiem

Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, op 45 is one of the most beautiful choral works, not only of the nineteenth century, but of all time. Completed in 1868 as a tribute to his mother and to his great friend, Robert Schumann, the “German Requiem” is a masterpiece which singers and audience return to time and time again. The non-liturgical “German Requiem” addresses the living, rather than the dead, and poignantly communicates the essence of universal human experience.  Scholars and performers agree that Ein deutsches Requiem provides one of the most sublime moments in all of music literature.  Join us as we combine forces with the chorus and orchestra from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music in this noble and inspiring masterpiece.
