Antonia: A Portrait of the Woman (1974) tells the inspiring story of trailblazing conductor Antonia Brico, GCS’s conductor, 1934-35, and the first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic. Co-directed by Judy Collins, this landmark feminist documentary was Oscar-nominated and restored in 2022. Join us for a screening of the film, followed by a panel discussion on women in music and leadership featuring

  • Beth Willer, Associate Professor and Director of Choral Studies at the Peabody Conservatory,

  • Suzanne Bona, host and executive producer of Sunday Baroque, a syndicated weekly radio show of Baroque and early music.

  • Christine Howlett, Music Director of the Greenwich Choral Society, and Professor of Music on the George Sherman Dickinson Chair and Director of Choral Activities, Vassar College.
